This shit was hella good, imma start that straight from the gate. I should have led with this meal and I don't like Chinese Food. But now.....not that night. So the place was packed.....check.....music was bumpin....check.check.....wait for it.... they serve alcoholic boba tea drinks......check....muthafuqn...check...wrecksneffects....microphone cheecccckque..... aight coo. I'm back. That damn alcoholic boba make you want to drop a few bars.....yaknowhadamean..... Food: Gucci....had the chicken dumplings....like buttah. Next the noodle and dumpling soup......just euphoric. There was ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that I would have picked the bowl up and started drinking that broth like the alcoholic boba ......gawd don't get me started....but came extremely close to it. At this point I was beyond full so my server packed the portion that I was eating on to go and brought the other half of the soup that I wanted to take home. Now you know shits good when you reheat it and it taste almost better than when you had it at the restaurant!!! That spot right there is fiyah....not fire.....FIYAH!!!

I request Blue Koi almost every time I come home to KC. The Leawood and KC locations are both great, totally consistent, good ambience, quick service. I always love the chili pepper wontons, pan fried with chicken. Their chicken dumplings are already delicious, but with the addition of the sauce, spice, and cilantro, the chili pepper wontons really can't be beat. I also adore the basil chicken with noodles, their hand-pulled noodles are delicious and the basil chicken is so pure and simple that it's a perfect combination. I also enjoy the scallion pancake appetizer, and almond or chai latte bubble tea as an accompaniment. I couldn't say enough good things about Blue Koi, I love this location by the hospital, on 39th street, it's definitely one of my fave restaurants in the area.

This place is AMAZING. Service was great and the quality of the food was phenomenal. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and the awesome sauce? Appropriately named. Portions were generous- 2 of us shared an order of dumplings and the ants on a tree and had TONS leftover. Absolutely recommend.

Blue Koi presents itself as Chinese comfort food and they deliver just that. I am always a little partial when eating Chinese food since that is what I grew up on, but this place hits home. It was my first visit so I went with the classic Chili Pepper Wontons as an appetizer and the Fire Bird (duck) for my entree. The service was a little slow considering we were one of only two tables there when we arrived. I really wanted to like the fire bird, but it did not blow me away. I think I just expected a little more texture and crispiness from the duck. The menu showed this dish as being quite spicy, but it didn't really get there for me. The wontons on the other hand were perfectly made. I've always been biased towards my family's homemade wontons, but these were just as good if not better. The doughy texture was nice and thick with plenty of filling. The sauce drizzled on top complemented the dish extremely well. I can see why this menu item is so popular. There are many great restaurants in the vicinity, and Blue Koi has its place. Prices are higher than what you would usually find at a Chinese restaurant, but they have a menu that is more unique than your typical Asian takeout joint. This last visit caught my attention. There are so many more items on the menu I want to try. I will definitely be back.

I tried the other location and had to return to try something new! This location was also featured on Diners, Drive-in, Dives. The quality of food at this location is consistent with their other restaurant. The menu is exactly the same as far as I could tell. To start, we ordered the chicken lettuce wraps. These were very finely chopped and had a large amount of basil in them. There is enough meat to make approximately four. This time I ordered the Almond Chicken Asparagus with noodles for the main course. Once again, the noodles were great! Can't beat homemade noodles! The chicken was plentiful and the asparagus was tender throughout. The sliced almonds were a great addition to add texture to the dish. To end, we had the mocha bubble tea in smoothie form. This is the best flavor I have had so far! More like a dessert! Service was great at this location and the atmosphere was very modern with an open air feeling. There is a great view of the kitchen, which is fun. You are able to see the meals being prepared.

I know KC is known for its great BBQ but I couldn't go too long without some Asian food. I am so happy that I found this little gem. This place is very spacious and modern. They serve drinks, which goes very well with the great wontons they have. I came here on a random Wed night and there was no wait. To start it off, we ordered the chili wontons, and I must say it's the best I've had, and I'm from NYC. The wontons fillings are generous and that sauce... the flavors, the kick, I can't say enough good things about it. I wish they sold the sauce in a bottle, I'd definitely buy it! We also ordered the duck firebird and ants on a tree. The duck firebird is extremely flavorful and the duck was very tender. Ants on a tree, the name weird, but if you like noods, definitely give it a try. They have a vegan option if you want! The service is also excellent, the server was super attentive! We wanted to split everything, so our server offered to split everything beforehand for us. Really appreciated it! Definitely will be back!

First time at Blue Koi and what an experience it was I'm a big connoisseur of any type of Asian food (and what's better than the comfort of well-made Chinese food??). I'm also a sucker for hand pulled noodles and once I say that they had some on the menu, I was very intrigued. Got the spicy wonton dumplings as an appetizer (fried not steamed) and they were good. I was expecting them to be much more spicier, but they honestly had a very mild flavor. As an entree I got the Chinese pot roast which came with hand pulled noodles. In hind sight I should've asked them to make it more spicy because it had absolutely no heat. BUT the noodles were crazy good, and the pot roast was INCREDIBLY tender and flavorful. I had to make myself stop eating it so I could save some for a meal the next day. It is located on 39th so parking is always tricky, but there is a lot behind the restaurant which has spaces for the restaurants in that area.

Simply the best... better than ALL the rest! I've been to many Asian restaurants only to be disappointed. However, BLUE KOI can do no wrong in my eyes. The staff were pleasant over the phone during my reservation and in person while dining. I was nervous because I don't like noodles, but I'm so glad my coworker chose this spot. The shrimp dumplings are to die for and the Ginger Basil Chicken yummy!!!! I had a tiny sample of the Chinese pot roast and wanted more. It was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. Try this place out ASAP, you won't regret it!

Definitely a pleasant surprise near my hotel! Not only was Blue Koi featured on Triple D, but it was also within walking distance! I had their Shrimp and Chicken with Black Bean Sauce and it hit the spot! I also had some spicy noodles with chicken. Very good, but a little too hot for me. Service was great and very friendly! Give 'em a taste if you're in the area!
